Dance in Prospect Park
This camp is an opportunity to explore and learn the basic steps of different dance styles.
Our goal is to develop a connection to dance, music, sports, and increase confidence in children. We will also help them socialize, work in groups, and follow instructions. We will perform exercises for the proper development of the spine, feet, flexibility, and overall body posture.
"The job of feet is walking,
but their hobby is dancing"
- AMIT KALANTRI
Dance as an art form is beautiful and breathtaking. Dance provides benefits far beyond that available to those trained in the discipline. For young children, dance and creative movement can help improve their cognitive development, building skills necessary for success later in life. Some of the benefits are:
*SENSORY AWARENESS * DEVELOPMENT * SOCIAL SKILLS * HEALTH & FITNESS * LANGUAGE * BODY AWARENESS * CONCENTRATION * RESPECT * SELF ESTEEM * SPECIAL NEEDS
Yoga is not just for adults! In fact, it can give children very important life skills that can help them succeed in the world. Yoga helps children manage their anxiety. Improves children’s emotional regulation. Boosts children’s self-esteem. Increases children’s body awareness and mindfulness. Enhances children’s concentration and memory. Develops children’s strength and flexibility. Teaches discipline and reduces impulsivity.
Arts & crafts
When the table becomes Craft Central, you may not realize that your child is developing lifelong skills underneath all the paint and glitter. However, there are several important skills kids pick up from crafting. Crafting helps develop fine motor skills. It boosts counting and pattern recognition. Crafting encourages critical thinking and develops patience. It builds resilience. It encourages a creative mindset.
Research has shown that games are essential for healthy development in early childhood and beyond. Play lets children practice what they know, and also what they don't. It allows them to experiment through trial and error, find solutions to problems, work out the best strategies, and build new confidence and skills.
